When the pandemic closed libraries, millions of patrons kept checking out e-books and audiobooks, and many more discovered that convenience for the first time. This week, OverDrive, the platform used by most public libraries, released figures that illustrate just how dramatic the shift has been. In the first 10 months of 2020, over 356 million digital books were borrowed, almost a third more than during the same period in 2019.
